Yoga can help undo all the muscle aches and sluggishness caused by our sedentary behavior, but it can also feed one of the biggest sex organs...your brain. (Did we just blow your mind?!) By the end of a hard day, your mind is stuffed with deadlines, emails to answer, friends to get back to and general stress, not exactly sexy stuff. A quick little round of asanas (aka ‘yoga poses’) will help shake the cobwebs out and center your mind, while sending blood rushing to all the right places. Here’s an easy set of poses that any beginner can try out to warm things up. You don’t have to do it naked, but doesn’t that kind of sound like fun?
Light a candle, give yourself a little massage, and stretch it out.
Feel free to stay in this one for a while. This alone will make you feel a million times better in your hip and tailbone area and send lots of blood back where you need it.
Start on all fours and then very slowly round your back up, like a spooky Halloween cat, hold it and then slowly release to form the opposite shape with your spine. Sending the top of the head and tail bone up and your back down. Keep doing this as long as you want, you can also wiggle your hips from side to side for some extra release. This is an excellent exercise for your pelvic floor muscles as well as being super relaxing.
Still on all fours with you knees hip width apart, firmly plant your palms on the matt and slowly lower your hips back all the way to sit on your heels. Slowly lower your torso and rest your forehead on the matt. If it feels too intense then bring your arms back to rest alongside your thighs with your palms facing up. Completely relax your elbows. Just hang out here for a bit.
HAPPY BABY POSE
This pose makes you look hilarious but feels AMAZING when your hips are all locked. Start by laying flat on your back, exhale and bring your knees to your belly. Inhale and grip the outsides of your feet with your hands. Open your knees slightly wider than your torso, then bring them up toward your armpits. Create an L shape with your legs and push against your hands with you feet, like your feet are trying to bust free towards the ceiling. You should look like a baby on its back that’s just discovered it has toes. Feel free to rock from side to side a little here to give yourself a lower back massage. This pose is in the Kama Sutra, so you know it’s super sexy ;)
DOWNWARD FACING DOG
Releasing your toes and coming on to all fours again, place your hands shoulder-width apart with the fingers spread super wide. Your feet should be hip-width apart and the legs are working towards being straight. Draw your shoulders away from your ears and gaze towards your thighs. Your body should be making an upside down “V” shape with your bum pulling all the way up and back. Hold this pose as long as is comfortable and then slowly release to the floor again.
SVANASANA (CORPSE POSE)
For this pose you basically just get to lay on the floor completely limp, but don’t skip this one. Letting yourself just relax is super restorative and helps bring a close to your little session. Lay on your back, with your ankles apart and your arms slightly away from your body, palms up. Close your eyes and try to think about all the tiny muscles in your hands and face and feet and groin and let them all just totally relax. Once you feel all your tiny muscles release just focus on your breathing until you feel nice and fresh, then slowly roll onto your side and help yourself up.
Doing even a couple of these movements whenever you get the chance will help get your blood flowing, your muscles unkinking and your body warm, all essential in boosting your libido!
